Manic Monday Mania!!!

It is that most dreaded day of the week! Monday again folks. We are coming off of a good weekend! My 22 year old son got married on Saturday to my beautiful new daughter! You can see their picture here.  It was a beautiful ceremony and they make such a great couple.

Sunday my friend Kim come by to get her bed and dresser that she  had stored in my spare bedroom. I was so happy about this. I have plans for the spare bedroom and for my attic room. I started cleaning out the attic room and trying to organize the storage closet up there. Of course we had to watch the Superbowl! Congrats to the Ravens! I think the best commercial during the Superbowl was the Taco Bell commercial featuring all of the older people. It was quite hilarious!

Now, on to the music video of the day.  Keith works the night shift at his job and that leaves me and the kids here all by ourselves during the evening. The kids and I are actually on the same schedule. We stay up very late and sleep most of the morning away.  I always tell family and friends that we are on the Nightshift and that we don't wake up until at least noon and that I will have my phone set to silent until we wake up.  To get to the song of the day on Manic Monday Mania! I thought that the song  "The Night Shift" by the Commodores was perfect for today. (After all we are starting the night shift again tonight!)

The Commodores wrote the song "Night Shift" in 1985 as a tribute to Jackie Wilson & Marvin Gaye. Wilson & Gaye were two famous R&B singers who died the previous year in 1984. It was their first and biggest hit obtained after Lionel Richie left the group.  Here is a link to the video and the words will follow! Enjoy your own kind of "Manic Monday Mania" !

Nightshift - The Commodores
Marvin, he was a friend of mine
And he could sing a song, his heart in every line
Marvin, sang of the joy and pain
He opened up our minds, and I still can hear him say

Aw talk to me so you can see what's going on
Say you will sing your songs forevermore (evermore)

CHORUS:
Gonna be some sweet sounds coming down on the nightshift
I bet you're singing proud, oh I bet you'll pull a crowd
Gonna be a long night, it's gonna be all right on the nightshift
Oh you found another home, I know you're not alone on the nightshift

Jackie (Jackie), hey whatcha doing now
It seems like yesterday when we were working out
Jackie (Jackie, oh) you set the world on fire
You came and gifted us, your love it lifted us higher and higher

Keep it up and we'll be there at your side
Oh say you will sing your songs forevermore (evermore)

CHORUS
Gonna miss your sweet voice that soulful voice on the nightshift
We all remember you, oh the songs are coming through
At the end of a long day it's gonna be okay on the nightshift
You found another home, I know you're not alone on the nightshift

Manic Monday Mania!!!

Yes folks, it is Monday again already!  Some folks are fortunate enough to have a holiday today! Good for you! Since it is Monday  and I am finally here with my computer all nice and fixed, I am jumping back into the swing of things!

The last few months have made life difficult and I have been a bit run down. The twins were sick again, the holidays are always hectic and never "fun" as they should be it seems. My computer screen went out on me and well life was just a bit overly dramatic and aggravating for the final months of 2012.  Now that it is a New Year, I am believing that things are gonna be better.

One of the things that I tend to forget when everything is going wrong is that I need a little fun in my life or else I will go crazy. This throught process brought me back to the 80's and Cyndi Lauper!

"Girls Just Wanna Have Fun" was released by Cyndi Lauper on September 6th, 1983.  It is the single on side A of her "She's So Unusual" album.  Here is the crazy video of Cyndi performing "Girl's Just Wanna Have Fun".  Enjoy!

Girls Just Want To Have Fun - Cyndi Lauper
I come home in the morning light
My mother says when you gonna live your life right
Oh mother dear we're not the fortunate ones
And girls just want to have fun
Oh girls just want to have fun
The phone rings in the middle of the night
My father yells what you gonna do with your life
Oh daddy dear you know you're still number one
But girls they want to have fun
Oh girls just want to have--
That's all they really want
Some fun
When the working day is done
Girls-- they want to have fun
Oh girls just want to have fun
Some boys take a beautiful girl
And hide her away from the rest of the world
I want to be the one to walk in the sun
Oh girls they want to have fun
Oh girls just want to have
That's all they really want
Some fun
When the working day is done
Girls--they want to have fun
Oh girls just want to have fun,
They want to have fun,
They want to have fun...

Manic Monday Mania (Escape- The Pina Colada Song)

Yes folks it is that time again! Monday is back and so is Manic Monday Mania. The high today here in NC is going to be a blistering 53 degrees. Now for folks in the North this will sound like a day for shorts and tshirts but for us folks down south who are accustomed to hot weather, we will be wearing long sleeves and possibly coats.  To add to the cold it is also raining. Can you say Brrrrrr?... It is a soup or chili kind of day around here. I did not take anything out of the freezer last night so I am behind already!  (Keith just told me that we have some still bagged up in the freezer so it won't be too hard to catch up! )

The happenings of this household over the weekend tend to run amuck with the daily life. The twins are sick with the RSV again so its breathing treatments twice a day. Mine & Lil Keith's allergies are acting up. Thank goodness for Zyrtec! To top all of that off the dryer stopped working. This dryer is old and over the hill and it has served us well. My sister actually got it off of Craigslist and used it for a year or two and then she gave it to me when she bought a new matching set. I have used it for over two years, so it has served its purpose and then some.

Needless to say things are as hectic as always around here.  Keith & I were talking about finding a babysitter and having a bit of an Escape together to go watch a movie or something one weekend. I thought the perfect song for today would be "Escape-The Pina Colada Song".  I have never known the entire lyrics of the song but it always sounded tropical and well I just love pina coladas so I was feeling good about it til I actually read the lyrics. Keith & I had a bit of a laugh over it when we did read the lyrics.  I decided to go ahead and use it anyway because it is tropical.

Now "Escape-The Pina Colada Song" is performed by Rupert Holmes. It was released in 1979 and was the last chart topper of the 1970's but fell out of grace the first week of the 80's only to be back on top again the second week of January 1980.  Enjoy the video.

Escape (The Piña Colada Song) - Rupert Holmes

I was tired of my lady,
We've been together too long.
Like a worn-out recording,
Of a favorite song.
So while she lay there sleeping,
I read the paper in bed.
And in the personals column,
There was this letter I read:

"If you like Piña Coladas,
And getting caught in the rain.
If you're not into yoga,
If you have half-a-brain.
If you like making love at midnight,
In the dunes of the cape.
I'm the lady you've looked for,
Write to me, and escape."

I didn't think about my lady,
I know that sounds kind of mean.
But me and my old lady,
Have fallen into the same old dull routine.
So I wrote to the paper,
Took out a personal ad.
And though I'm nobody's poet,
I thought it wasn't half-bad.

"Yes, I like Piña Coladas,
And getting caught in the rain.
I'm not much into health food,
I am into champagne.
I've got to meet you by tomorrow noon,
And cut through all this red tape.
At a bar called O'Malley's,
Where we'll plan our escape."

So I waited with high hopes,
Then she walked in the place.
I knew her smile in an instant,
I knew the curve of her face.
It was my own lovely lady,
And she said, "Oh, it's you."
And we laughed for a moment,
And I said, "I never knew..

"That you liked Piña Coladas,
And getting caught in the rain.
And the feel of the ocean,
And the taste of champagne.
If you like making love at midnight,
In the dunes of the cape.
You're the love that I've looked for,
Come with me, and escape."

"If you like Piña Coladas,
And getting caught in the rain.
If you're not into yoga,
If you have half-a-brain.
If you like making love at midnight,
In the dunes of the cape.
I'm the lady you've looked for,
Write to me, and escape."

Manic Monday Mania!!

That's right folks, its that time once again. Manic Monday Mania!  Coming off of the weekend and most folks are dreading going back to work or school or to just start the day to day grind of what the weekdays have to offer.

I am coming off of one hellish weekend. The twins were exposed to someone that was sick over the weekend when that sick person come to our house.  (You would think that family would know better!) Adam is sick. He started running a fever on Saturday night after our guests left. His fever has lasted all weekend long. He has a bit of a runny nose going. Keith is on the way to the pediatricians office right now. Amazingly enough, the other two have not caught it yet. I hope it does not lead to another bout of RSV but it probably will.

The rest of the weekend was the same as usual. No way to go anywhere (my van is shot and we can't fit all of us into the truck) so me and the kids stay here at home practically 24/7.  The only physical contact we get from the outside world lately is when someone decides to grace us with their presence. (Which is great, just please leave the sick people at home!)

To start off our Manic Monday Mania the right way I have chosen the 80's band The Fixx & their song "One Thing Leads to Another" from their album Reach the Beach. This song topped out on the US charts at # 4 in 1983. The words and video are below! Enjoy this Manic Monday Mania!

One Thing Leads To Another - The Fixx
The deception with tact, just what are you trying to say?
You've got a blank face, which irritates
Communicate, pull out your party piece
You see dimensions in two
State your case with black or white
But when one little cross leads to shots, grit your teeth
You run for cover so discreet, why don't they:
Do what they say, say what you mean
One thing leads to another
You told me something wrong, I know I listen too long
But then one thing leads to another.
The impression that you sell
Passes in and out like a scent
But the long face that you see comes from living close
To your fears
If this is up then I'm up but you're running out of sight
You've seen your name on the walls
And when one little bump leads to shock miss a beat
You run for cover and there's heat, why don't they:
Do what they say, say what they mean
One thing leads to another
You told me something wrong, I know I listen too long
But then one thing leads to another
One thing leads to another
Then it's easy to believe
Somebody's been lying to me
But when the wrong word goes in the right ear
I know you've been lying to me
It's getting rough, off the cuff I've got to say enough's enough
Bigger the harder he falls
But when the wrong antidote is like a bulge on the throat
You runs for cover in the heat why don't they
Do what they say, say what they mean
One thing leads to another
You tell me something wrong, I know I listen too long
But then one thing leads to another
One thing leads to another (Repeat)

Manic Monday Mania!

It has been a long day! I almost did not make it online to post my Manic Monday Mania! It has also been a very good day so I cannot complain today. Coming off of a good weekend. We enjoyed our time together this weekend as a family.

I also got some very good news today at the doctors office. I went back to my OBGYN for my test results of my biopsy.... Thankfully, no precancerous cells turned up! I am so happy because of that. So today I cannot complain that the house looks like a mess because of all of the weekend happenings or that I have not been getting sleep. I am a happy camper.

Celebrating today we are going to listen to a classic from the
Go-Go's. "We Got the Beat" was released in the U.S. in January of 1982 on their Beauty & the Beat album.

See the people walking down the street
Fall in line just watching all their feet
They don't know where they wanna go
But they're walking in time

They got the beat
They got the beat
They got the beat, yeah
They got the beat

See the kids just getting out of school
They can't wait to hang out and be cool
Hang around 'til quarter after twelve
That's when they fall in line

They got the beat
They got the beat
Kids got the beat, yeah
Kids got the beat

Go-go music really makes us dance
Do the pony puts us in a trance
Do the watusi just give us a chance
That's when we fall in line

'Cause we got the beat
We got the beat
We got the beat, yeah
We got it

We got the beat
We got the beat
We got the beat
Everybody get on your feet
We got the beat
We know you can dance to the beat
We got the beat
Jumpin',get down
We got the beat
Round and round and round
We got the beat
We got the beat..

Manic Monday Mania!

Ok since last week's Manic Monday Mania was such a great stress reliever that I would look up some old 80's music from my childhood and do this every Monday!

I had a decent weekend for the most part. On Saturday my oldest son Michael come to visit with one of our old neighbors. His roommates Mom and I have not seen each other in almost five years. He called me to see if we were home and wanted to know if he and Dale could stop by. I was so happy to see her. We spent all day long catching up on work, kids, life in general. It was a great day.

Sunday was a normal day. I let Keith cook and I had to wash the dishes afterwards.... the food was good but the mess took away from the great taste! LOL!

Now it is Monday again and I need musical inspiration! So here is a great 80's hit to get me and you moving!

This song is "Burning Down the House" by the group Talking Heads. It is a hit from 1983 off of their album "Speaking In Tongues".   I hope you enjoy!

Manic Monday Mania!!!

Ok I am admitting defeat! My house is a wreck! I have dishes stacked up that need to be washed, laundry loads that need to be folded & put away & the living room floor looks like the twins played roller derby over cracker crumbs with their walkers.  My MIL will probably be bringing Lil Keith back today and I pray I get this place clean before she gets here with the crew. I swear I hate it when they come here and I don't have everything at least half way decent.

The twins are teething now like crazy (they each have two buds on top and on the bottom showing with lots more coming in) & they are literally being teething infants. I am getting no sleep.  I swear they are taking turns sleeping.... one will sleep while the other one is awake and vice versa. There was a 48 hour period that I got about 8 hours total of sleep.

So anyway, once my MIL gets here and sees the house in such a mess her first words will be: " I don't know why the twins give you such a hard time, they sleep like little lambs for us..."   Ok folks, the key words there are US... she has numerous cousins from the age of 10 up to the age of 20 running around her house just dying to hold these cute little monsters, not to mention their Aunts come by and play with them and take them to their house for hours on end... so you can see how they are not crying or whining, they are being spoiled rotten! I don't have that luxury!  Most of the time it is me, Lil Keith and the twins day in and day out all day long. When Keith gets home from work he plays with them for a little while but then he is off to bed and it is just me and them again.

Right now it is 3:30 am I am trying to get Elijah to sleep.  I am suppose to be up and on a phone conference at 10 am.... It's Just Another Manic Monday for me here @ LovejoyJunction!  In order to commemorate that, here is the Bangles singing Manic Monday from YouTube land!!
